10. The Map of Destiny

Let me tell you a story.

Imagine that the destiny and purpose of life was to perceive. Imagine that the only thing that existed in the universe was awareness of being, your awareness of being.

Before time itself was born, the primal Spirit, later known as Zero, existed in potential, but not in presence; so that, although it had nothing to perceive, its awareness was infinite. And something moved in Zero for the first time: it renounced its endless awareness, in order to be able to experience itself through the perishable and finite.

At first it formed three energies which, in truth, came into being simultaneously, although in the time of the human being someone numbered them in an attempt to understand them better.

The one who had the role of fragmenting the awareness was known as One, the one who came after Zero, the first name: the Creator. And so Two also manifested itself, with the mission of sustaining what had already been created, of bringing it together, of unifying it. Two was known as the Custodian, and thus Space was born. But, certainly, the mother of the first two, the true primal mother was the one who became known as Three, a matrix called the Wheel of Time. It is she who drives and generates movement, causes mutation, prints vibration and allows the journey to take place. The wheel turns and rotates to finally bring back what exists to its source, transforming and finally destroying, in a cyclic way, over and over again – this is why time was named the Transformer.

And the three, which altogether were known simply as the Spirit, created the millions of beings, which only represent variations of the infinite consciousness of Zero. For this reason, beings, often without knowing it, are looking for their source, because they themselves are the source; although, in reality, the destination is the journey itself. This is the story of life – but there's more.

In order to make things more interesting, the Spirit simultaneously created all that was to exist. It created all universes, all beings, all their lives. From beginning to end, past, present and future, with all possible variations. It created light, sound, gravity, atomic forces, electricity, magnetism, dark matter and everything else, and then it created beings endowed with senses to be able to perceive. But first of all, it created joy, fear, sadness, the motive force, love and recreation. Emotions would exist in the image and likeness of the primordial forces, those that made energy organize itself into the innumerable forms and functions possible in the universe. It created good and evil to distinguish between symmetrical developments or entropic involutions. It didn't create one path – it created them all. It established every conceivable possibility, as different lanes that beings could travel-live. It created a world of possibilities to perceive. Each choice would lead to living one life or another. Beings would have a sense of continuity, identity, being and existence due to the pressure of the force of time on their consciousness. For every decision made, a whole universe would be manifested in order to support it. A play with as many scenes as beings that have existed, exist and will exist: and for each scene as many scripts as you can possibly imagine – and then more. And a single rule: in every choice, energy and consciousness would be lost or gained.

We use 'suffering' to refer to the act of perceiving the threat, loss, attrition, attachment, ignorance or indifference that can diminish our energy-perception-consciousness. We use 'life' to refer to the perception that occurs when consciousness brushes against the map of destiny. Because this is what we are, a map with all the paths, all our options. These are limited, although numerous enough for us to feel the wind of freedom – even though it does not exist, at least in the way that we believed. Everything was set in advance, if only in a potential way. Our decisions will influence how the brush of life draws the final picture.

From conception we begin to perceive the world and our own existence within it. We are the fragmented consciousness of the Spirit who deceives itself into living a mortal life, for the excitement that it brings. We have innumerable paths, but we will only live one of them, which will become a trace of light in the dark sea of awareness. Its beginning will be conception, its middle points our decisions and its end death and transition: in order to fill the Spirit with life, because its awareness is our raison d'ĂȘtre. We start as a fractal of possibilities and end up as a single line of energy delineated through all the options we chose. At the end of it all, will I succeed in contributing to the enlargement of the consciousness of the Spirit, or will I represent another boring existence?
